How To Take Large Items To The Skip
Large bottles of Liptons, large nappies, old Dyson vaccums, large 3piece suites, old fridges and anything with lots of different attachments all pose a serious danger if they are taken to the Skip. This is because people sneeze throughout the day and a small particle of saliva can contain Coronavirus. Large items can carry these on when moved around the house as dust covers these particles then a door will be opened and another room will be contaminated.
Rubbish Removal And Skip Hire
I'm sure most people have had to look into skip hire at some stage. Whether it's for a small renovation job or you want to get rid of an item that has cluttered up your home, sometimes it's worth considering when hiring a skip could be the best solution. From 2nd February 2015, we have had reports of instances of people with symptoms of Coronavirus putting their large items out for collection before the virus has had time to clear.
How To Dispose Of Large Household Items
If you follow the guidance above carefully, then you shouldn’t have any problems with your items being collected by us. However you should be aware that Coronavirus is very infectious and people are advised not to travel or attend work for 5 days after recovering from symptoms. If anyone living in your home has had symptoms, the distance of 72 hours may not be enough time to prevent them from picking it up again. Please note: do not put the large items out before waiting 72 hours after any symptoms have cleared.
The Skip Hire Experts
You must avoid infecting other residents' homes and businesses by taking these steps to minimise cross contamination. Please make sure clothing, bedding, soft toys, nappies/diapers/pads, etc are all bagged up in waterproof bags before placing outside on your collection day. We want to make sure we do all we can to help stop the spread of the virus. We ask people not to put down large items, such as fridges/freezers, until at least 72 hours after any customers have reported symptoms and these have cleared.
Book Your Skip Online Now
This does not affect your regular black bag collections. Thank you for your cooperation. To minimise the risk of spreading Coronavirus, we’d recommend leaving at least 72 hours between the last known evidence of the virus and putting out your large items for collection. This will allow us to treat the large items as radioactive waste with our special equipment, and make sure that other people don’t catch Coronavirus. This can lead to further cases of Coronavirus in the local community.
When booking collections of large unwanted items, it is best to place the call as soon as possible to ensure there is no delay in removing the items you no longer need. Large items can be placed outside the morning prior to your booked collection however if you have any doubts about whether an item is classed as too large for collection or not, please do check with Skip Hire UK. We love to make collections, deliver Skip Hire UK and offer waste disposal solutions to our customers across the country.
Coronavirus is a viral infection that can cause mild to severe illness in humans, particularly those with underlying health problems . This new virus was first identified in the Middle East in 2012 and has since spread to parts of Europe. The start of the school summer holidays (August 2013) has been associated with a rise in the number of people requiring treatment at our site in York. Large items; furniture, mattresses/beds, upholstered items and toys are collected from the roadside.
In accordance with safety advice, if anybody in the house has (or has had) symptoms of Coronavirus please leave at least 72 hours (i. e. three days) between symptoms clearing and putting your items out for collection. Please remember that anyone in the same house as someone with symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, flu or a chest or lung infection must leave 14 days between when the symptoms cleared and binning. Before the skip arrives , it’s best to get as many large items outside as possible.
This gives you the most room to manoeuvre once the skip has arrived. However, if anyone in your household has (or has had) symptoms of Coronavirus you should leave at least 72 hours between them clearing and putting the large items out for collection. If you are clearing the contents of a room in your property that has been closed, you will need to leave at least 48 hours between opening the room and putting the items into your skip for collection.
When booking collections of large items (e. g. fridges, sofas, bed bases) from your home, please be aware that if anybody in the household has (or has had) symptoms of Coronavirus you must give us at least 72 hours notice of when you intend to put these large items out on the kerb for collection. Any collections booked whilst someone is ill will not be able to go ahead unless a minimum of 3 days notice is given and we can make sure that precautions are taken to protect our operatives and those in the surrounding area from the illness.
